The India Women’s Senior National Team registered a 1-0 victory over Egypt on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 in the first friendly match between the two teams, at the Prince Mohammed Stadium in Zarqa, Jordan.  Youngster Priyangka Devi was the only scorer of the night, netting her first-ever goal for the Blue Tigresses against Egypt. The first half began with the Indian side pressing hard to seize the initiative. Captain Ashalata Devi tried to earn an early lead in the 18th minute via her shot from distance but Anju, who latched on to the ball, missed the chance.  Couple of minutes later, Manisha almost scored the first for the night through Dalima’s pass from the right but was collected by the Egyptian custodian. Before the opposition could settle into the game, a sudden strike by Priyangka in the 30th minute gave India the early lead, and remained the only goal of the match. Communication on the field will be the key to success in AFC Women’s Asian Cup: Indumathi Kathiresan

Image
KOCHI: Football is a sport that is made beautiful, especially when a team bonds together to be greater than the sum of its parts. One key aspect of such endeavours is communication -- something that Blue Tigresses midfielder Indumathi Kathiresan lays a lot of stress on. “It’s all about communicating on the field to fill in the missing areas, when you’re playing in the midfield,” Indumathi said to www.the-aiff.com “People mistake it to be pointing out the mistakes of others. But it’s not about that. If I don’t do it, they may not know what they’ve done wrong, and vice versa.” “When they (my teammates) look into my eyes on the pitch, they should know that even if they make an error, I’ll give my life to come and help them; and when I look into their eyes, I too want to see the same. That’s what playing for the country is all about. That’s what football is all about,” she exclaimed. While the 27-year-old midfield general stresses the importance of communicating with your teammates, it

Aqaba: Islamic Republic of Iran’s Shahrdari Sirjan edged Uzbekistan’s FC Bunyodkor 2-1 in their AFC Women’s Club Championship 2021 opener at the Aqaba Development Corporate Stadium, Jordan on Sunday. The opening minutes were evenly contested but Shahrdari Sirjan were the first to settle into the match when they found the back of the net after just six minutes. Shahrdari Sirjan’s Hadis Basatshir got the move going when she picked out Zahra Alizadeh on the left flank, who wriggled her way past the Bunyodkor defence before cutting back to Nasab to score. Bunyodkor were under pressure again four minutes later when Alizadeh surged down the left flank before sending Shabnam Behesht through on goal but goalkeeper Olga Kakharova was at her best to deny the defender. Bunyodkor’s Lyudmila Karachik had a chance to level the tie in the 12th minute but she failed to latch onto a Umida Zoirova through ball, and the forward sent a free-kick wide three minutes later. Elmira Gulamova’s side continued

Indian women's football team beat higher-ranked Chinese Taipei 1-0 in international friendly

Image
MANAMA: Indian women's football team beat higher-ranked Chinese Taipei 1-0 in an international friendly match to end their four-match exposure tour on a winning note on Wednesday. Renu scored the all-important goal in the third minute and the Indians kept their opponents at bay till the end. Chinese Taipei are ranked 40th in the FIFA chart while the Indians are placed at 57th. Thomas Dennerby's team had entered the match after a 5-0 win over Bahrain in their previous outing here on Sunday. Besides the positive result against 85th-ranked Bahrain, India had beaten UAE 4-1 and lost to 77th-ranked Tunisia 0-1 in Dubai in international friendly matches earlier this month. The friendly matches were a part of preparations for the AFC Asian Cup, which will be hosted by India in January-February. Before the victory against 100th ranked UAE on October 2, the Indians were winless in the five previous matches this year, though all of them were against higher ranked European sides.

But we are ready for that,". Ibha – Official Mascot revealed for FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022 He continued, “I expect an attacking game from Chinese Taipei, which means our defence will be under more pressure.
