West Ham United Foundation Men's player pathway trials in England
The West Ham United Foundation’s Player Pathway programme has been running for five seasons and seen huge progress during that time.
Purpose of a Pathway
To allow development, it is imperative that all players receive honest and constructive feedback, in a process that is continually progressing. This season saw the introduction of Individual Development Plans (IPD) for all players that sit within any squad tier. These allow for an open discussion between player, parents and coach to set our targets for players to look to achieve going forward.

Player Pathway Breakdown:
- Performance Academy - 2 Sessions per week + JPL Saturdays + Match/Training Kit + Workshops + Individual Player Development Meetings (Basildon Based)
- East London Advanced Squad - 1 Session per week + Showcase Fixtures + Training Kit + Workshops + Individual Player Development Meetings
- Essex Advanced Squad - 1 Session per week + Showcase Fixtures + Training Kit + Workshops +Individual Player Development Meetings (Basildon Based)
- Development Centre - 1 Session per week
Every player will receive an offer for the 2022/23 season at their tier of the pathway we believe will support their development the best, we monitor players progression throughout the season with players being moved throughout the pathway when possible.
