We aim for nothing less than a win against Nepal : Indian U-19 Head Coach Alex Ambrose

A day before taking on Nepal in their last group stage match in Dhaka in the ongoing SAFF U-19 Women’s Championship, India U19 Women's Team head coach Alex Ambrose mentioned that the team is "aiming" for a win.

Speaking ahead of the match tomorrow, Alex said: “Nepal are a fighting team and our players understand the importance of the game. We aim for nothing less than a win.''

The India U-19 Women's Team has won two matches defeating Sri Lanka (5-0) and Bhutan (3-0) to clock six points on the board but lost to hosts Bangladesh (0-1) in the championship. India need to win against Nepal tomorrow to seal their spot in the finals which will be played on December 22, 2021.

Despite the fact that the players were disappointed after the loss from their last match against Bangladesh, Ambrose sounded optimistic.

“It’s been good to see the team getting stronger with every game. Unfortunately we couldn’t win the last game but I was happy to see the reaction of all players pushing for a win. That was commendable”, he mentioned.

Coach also believes in the scoring mentality and pronounced: “If you have to win we have to score when we create those chances. It's as simple as that."

“Our defense have shown good discipline and am sure the girls will continue to do so”, he concluded.

The kick-off against Nepal is at IST 2.30pm, on Sunday, 19 Dec 2021
