“I'm happy to be here as this is the first time an Indian team is participating in the AFC Women’s Club Championship,” said Priya. “We have come prepared for the tournament and have been training for 10 months where we have also had a few friendlies with the U16 boys team back in Kerala.
“We would like to make history here and that’s our aim in this competition. The women’s game in India, especially the domestic league, is still in its infancy after being established just five years ago. This is the best opportunity for us to earn some exposure playing against some of the best teams in Asia.
“Our girls are eager to perform and I hope we can get maximum points for all our games here in Jordan."
Meanwhile, Priya’s opposite number, Nemer, is quietly confident of Amman Club’s chances of victory after claiming their fifth Jordan Women's Football League title.
“We are the champions in our domestic league here in Jordan and we’ve not lost a game,” said Nemer. “Our preparations have gone as scheduled with games against the women’s U16 team.
“We don’t know much about the Indian team but I believe the players are ready for their first match. We will focus on our strengths to play at our best in this tournament and we wish all the teams the best of luck.
“Both of the teams are champions in their respective leagues. There will be tough games ahead but that will only test our strengths to push us forward.”
