The squad were put through their paces in a 13-day centralised training camp under the watchful eyes of head coach Priya Parathi Valappil before leaving for Aqaba on Tuesday.
“The key to our success will be the combination and understanding with the foreigners,” said Valappil. “If we get it right, we have a chance. Our (foreign) players are good, but maybe they’ll need time to succeed.”
Valappil, who guided the Kerala-based club to their first Indian Women's League title, will have a few days to get the players ready before the tournament kicks off on Sunday.
“I am not worried about the domestic players. Since there are 10 from the national team who have been training and playing together, we have an advantage. But we need to align different playing styles.”
