Kerala Police defeated FC Kerala in the opening match of GV Raja all-India football tournament

Thiruvanthapuram: In the opening match of the 12th G.V. Raja all-India football tournament Kerala Police defeated FC Kerala by 3-0 at the Chandrasekharan Nair stadium on Monday 23 October 2017

Jimshad (6th), Sreeragh (30th) and K.P. Aneesh (87th) scored the goals for the Kerala Police.
FC Kerala could not find its feet in the first half as Kerala Police dominated the midfield. The action was confined to the FC Kerala’s half in the initial minutes as Police went on the offensive from the start.

Jimshad underlined his side’s supremacy by lobbing the ball over the advancing FC Kerala goalkeeper Vinshob for the early opening goal. Sreeragh increased the lead well into the first half, nodding in an accurate cross from Hari Baizon.

FC Kerala regrouped after the break, and there was a concerted effort to dominate the midfield. But most of the moves fizzled out near the rival box as FC Kerala lacked a capable striker.
The best chance for FC Kerala came in the 60th minute when a overlapping Mohammed Kunji arrowed in a precise cross for Haris to take a first-time shot at the Police goalpost. However, the shot ricochetted off the crossbar.

Police gradually regained control, and Aneesh completed the tally with a searing right-footer from top of the box in the 87th minute.

Kerala Police will meets Indian Navy in the next round on 25th October 2017
