India U19 team went down fighting against the Qatar U19 side

Doha: The India U19 team went down fighting against the Qatar U19 side as they managed to grab a 1-0 win over the colts at the Al Arabi Stadium in Doha.

In the 1st half, both teams traded a series of corners before Qatar grabbed the early lead through an error in the 12th minute. But the early goal spurred on the boys as they took the fight to Qatar. Rahul saw his shot saved by the goalkeeper while Boris’s cross into the box was hit over the bar by Puia as India tried hard for the equaliser. Goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh was then showed the red card for a foul as the teams headed into the break.

The 2nd half was more of a compact affair with no team making a major headway with the first real opportunity coming in form of a corner for Qatar in the 71st minute. A series of substitutions followed as both teams looked to try out combinations but the equaliser for India as well as the second goal cushion for Qatar remained elusive.
