The 51-year-old is a very
prominent name in football, especially to those familiar with the Premier
League, having been a part of the famous Manchester United squad which won the
treble in 1999. Sheringham scored the equaliser in the dramatic Champions
League final against Bayern Munich, which United won 2-1.
Sheringham has also played
for the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United during an illustrated
playing career before opting to get into management. He was the attacking coach
at West Ham United during the 2014-15 season but left the club in May 2015 to
take over League Two (English fourth division) side Stevenage.

It has been keen to watch that Atletico de Kolkata had a deal more or less agreed with Sheringham
a while back before they tried to push for Ashley Westwood, who was appointed
as the Technical Director of Atletico de Kolkata on Friday, as their head
coach. Westwood is a Manchester United academy graduate, both of
them should not have any trouble working together as the two-time ISL winners
look set for an injection of English philosophy, a marked change from the
earlier seasons where they were managed by Spanish coaches.
Atletico
has retained star goalkeeper Debjit Majumder and Prabir Das from the last year
team.
