Sunil Chhetri surpasses Wayne Rooney

As India beat Kyrgyzstan 1-0 in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifier in Bengaluru on Wednesday on the back of Sunil Chhetri's 69th-minute goal, it made the Indian captain fourth on the list of highest active international scorers. It was Chhetri's 54th goal for India and one that saw him surpass Wayne Rooney of England.

Only three other footballers, Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Lionel Messi (Argentina) and Clint Dempsey (U.S) sit ahead of Chhetri with 73, 58 and 56 goals respectively.
