Ghana become the first African nation to reach the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 . Ghana humiliated hosts Gabon 5-0 during the CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations at the Stade De Port Gentil on Wednesday. The victory followed their 4-0 comprehensive win against Cameroon on four days earlier. Captain Eric Ayiah and midfielder Emmanuel Toku scored a brace apiece before second-half substitute Patmos Arhin sealed the win that books them a berth for the semi-finals and a slot at this year’s FIFA U-17 championship in India. Ghana and Mexico have won the tournament twice.

Guinea’s 5-1 convincing victory over hosts Gabon in the CAF U-17 opener gave them the bragging rights as the tournament. The Group A game between Ghana and Cameroon was also as one sided and recorded high scores with the former winning 4-0. England and Germany booked tickets for U-17 World Cup.

Guinea are second in the group and need just a draw in their final group match to become the second of the four African nations to join the Black Starlets in India. Ghana were crowned world champions in 1995 and 1999, and have also finished runners-up on two occasions.

The other group features Angola, Niger, Tanzania and Mali, with each having played a match each.
